Minimal family unification.

چکیده
It is proposed that there exist, within a new SU (2) ′ , a gauged discrete group Q 6 (the order 12 double dihedral group) acting as a family symmetry. This nonabelian finite group can explain hierarchical features of families, using an assignment for quarks and leptons dictated by the requirements of anomaly cancellation and of no additional quarks.

Doubly Lopsided Mass Matrices from Unitary Unification
It is shown that the stratified or “doubly lopsided” mass matrix structure that is known to reproduce well the qualitative features of the quark and lepton masses and mixings can arise quite naturally in the context of grand unification based on the groups SU(N) with N > 5. An SU(8) example is constructed with the minimal anomalyfree, three-family set of fermions, in which a realistic flavor st...

Syntactic unification theory is concerned with the problem of finding a substitution that equalises a finite set of pairs of terms simultaneously. More precisely, given a set of function symbols L and a finite set of pairs of L-terms U = {(t1, s1), . . . , (tm, sm)}, called a unification problem, a unifier for U is a substitution σ defined on the set of variables of the terms in U such that σ(t...

Grand unification is an attractive idea and enables the unification of forces and the (partial) unification of quarks and leptons in each family.1) The introduction of supersymmetry (SUSY) increases the reality of grand unification. In the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), the gauge couplings meet at MX = 2.1× 1016GeV if the superpartners and Higgs particles exist below or around O(...
متن کاملAnomaly of Discrete Symmetries and Gauge Coupling Unification
Anomaly of a discrete symmetry is defined as the Jacobian of the path-integral measure. Assuming that anomaly at low energy is cancelled by the Green-Schwarz (GS) mechanism at a fundamental scale, we investigate possible Kac-Moody levels for anomalous discrete family symmetries. As the first example we consider discrete abelian Baryon number and Lepton number symmetries in the minimal supersymm...
